It’s with great excitement that we announce the upcoming completion of the first hole at Loraloma Golf Club, which will soon usher in a new standard of gameplay in the Austin area. Legendary golf course architect, David McClay-Kidd, has strategically integrated the natural Hill Country landscape to create a unique and picturesque experience.

The masterfully designed Hole 15 features a stunning lake feature and meticulously designed fairways, offering a challenge for golfers of all levels. The Par-5 is scheduled for completion within the next 60 days, and at 550 yards from the championship tees with its slight dogleg left, it is a true testament to the dedication and excellence of our course. 

The hole is designed to tempt the golfer to take on an ever-widening carry over the lake in order to gain advantage onto the green. As is often the case, the plans we drew gave us a starting point, but almost immediately the creative process took over and the original concept started to develop into something else. The green is tucked behind a long diagonal ridge that blocks your view into the green from center-right of the fairway, but center-left, it’s open and inviting. The heavily bunkered ridge creates the strategy, stay hard left and you can more easily go for the green in two, go right and the hole is likely three shots to the green. I love to figure out ways to have holes do the unexpected, and present themselves in a manner that excites the golfer, makes them think, and tempts aggressive play. 15 is the beginning of the final 4 holes where most matches are decided, from here forward risk and reward become paramount!
